Differences Between Atheros & Broadcom Chipsets

Acer Aspire One AOA110 Model ZG5 uses Atheros AR5007EG chipset whereas Acer Aspire One D250 Model KAV60 uses Broadcom 802.11g chipset. I also have Linksys wireless N network adapter WPC300N with Broadcom chipset.

I noticed the following differences:
  1. If you turn off the wireless switch on Acer Aspire One AOA110, it will remain turn off even after shutdown or reboot until you turn it on. But, if you turn off the wireless switch on Acer Aspire One D250, it will turn on itself after shutdown or reboot.
  2. If you boot up Acer Aspire One AOA110 without first turning on your wireless router, the wireless connection will function continuously after getting connected. But, if you boot up Acer Aspire One D250 without first turning on your wireless router, the wireless connection will function intermittently after getting connected until you shutdown or reboot. This behavior is also evident in Linksys WPC300N with Linksys WRT150 router.
Thus, I prefer Atheros chipset than Broadcom chipset.
